The existing 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Seaplane Lagoon trips get crowded, and Bay Ferry says a 5 p.m. departure would spread riders out. The agency is also weighing whether to turn its 5:55 a.m. Oakland-to-San Francisco run into a 6 a.m. Alameda Seaplane Lagoon trip instead, which could give West End commuters another early option.

Harbor Bay riders would get more boats, not fewer. Bay Ferry is proposing a new midday round trip and a later evening departure, which means people who don't work a standard 9-to-5 would have more ways to get home without driving.
What happens to the Main Street Alameda stop?
It would disappear on weekdays. Bay Ferry's weekday Oakland route would stop calling at Main Street in Alameda, though weekend service there wouldn't change. Riders who lose that stop still have the free Oakland Alameda Water Shuttle, known locally as Woodstock, which already runs up to 48 crossings a day between the two cities.
