Main Street Alameda Ferry Loses Weekday SF Trips Nov. 2
Seaplane and Harbor Bay get more weekday boats, and the Short Hop pauses for November.
By The Alameda Pulse
San Francisco Bay Ferry will stop running weekday boats between Main Street Alameda and Downtown San Francisco starting Monday, Nov. 2, 2026. The agency's fall schedule change page says weekday riders in Alameda, CA will use the Alameda Seaplane and Harbor Bay routes instead.
- Where: The Main Street terminal at 2990 Main St. loses weekday San Francisco service. The Seaplane terminal (1701 Ferry Point Road, Alameda Point) and Harbor Bay terminal (215 Adelphian Way) pick up the slack.
- When: Monday, Nov. 2, 2026.
- What changes: The Seaplane route adds five weekday trips and drops two. Harbor Bay adds three.
- Who decided: San Francisco Bay Ferry, which makes schedule changes twice a year.
- Weekends: Timetables stay the same.
It's a change we flagged back when it was only a proposal. Now it's official, so if Main Street is your stop, it's time to pick a new one.
Which Alameda ferry trips are changing?
The Alameda Seaplane route gets the biggest boost, with five new weekday trips and two cut.
- New westbound to San Francisco: 6:00 AM, 5:25 PM and 7:50 PM. The 8:25 PM trip goes away.
- New eastbound to Alameda: 5:00 PM and 7:15 PM. The 7:00 PM trip goes away.
- Harbor Bay: A new 1:05 PM westbound trip, plus new eastbound trips at 12:30 PM and 8:10 PM.
Several other Seaplane trips shift by 5 to 10 minutes, so check the timetable before you rely on an old habit.
How do I get from Main Street to Oakland or San Francisco now?
For San Francisco, you'll need to head to the Seaplane or Harbor Bay terminal on weekdays.
For Oakland, the agency points riders to the Alameda Short Hop or the Oakland Alameda Water Shuttle, the boat locals call Woodstock. Here's the catch. The Short Hop's weekday service between Oakland and Main Street is suspended from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, 2026, because of trip changes on the South San Francisco route. It comes back Tuesday, Dec. 1. The water shuttle has no schedule changes.
What stays the same?
Weekend timetables stay put, apart from minor time tweaks on a few Vallejo trips. The South San Francisco route is a separate story. It's paused for dredging from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, with its last day on Friday, Oct. 30.
What this means for Alameda
Commuters on the Main Street side of the island lose a direct weekday boat to the city, while the Seaplane and Harbor Bay stops gain more departures. The dates to remember are Nov. 2 for the new schedules and Dec. 1 for the Short Hop's return. Find more in our transportation coverage, and check SF Bay Ferry's schedule page before you head out that first Monday.
