Oakland Roots Facility Open House Is Set for Aug. 8

Alameda's City Council posted a public notice this week for an Oakland Roots and Soul open house on August 8, and if you want an early look at what the pro soccer clubs have planned for their Harbor Bay Parkway facility, this is your chance.

What the Notice Actually Says

The notice isn't a hearing and it isn't a vote. It's a Sunshine Ordinance notice, which the city has to post any time a majority of the City Council might show up somewhere together to talk about public business. In this case, that somewhere is the "Oakland Roots & Soul Facility Improvement Open House," set for 10 a.m. on August 8 at 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway, the club's headquarters and training site in the Harbor Bay Business Park.

No Vote, No Minutes, Just a Look

According to the city's own agenda item, the council won't be taking any action and the City Clerk won't even be keeping minutes. That's normal for this kind of notice. It exists so the public knows in advance that several council members might be in the same room, not because anything's being decided that day.
